3rd Gens gotta luv'em

Grumpy Old man alert, I'll probably annoy the 'Plastic Low Bore Axis" cultists, but IMHO 3rd Gens are the last relevant pistols S&W made. 3rd Gen S&W's are awesome, awesome guns, can't go wrong with them, especially if you can find an ex-LEO version that has the mag safety disconnect, the only ugly flaw in their entire design.

I've shot M&P's and, I'm sorry, but they're junk. My agency issued them to an academy recently, they couldn't even make it through 3 weeks of recruit shooting. No thanks. And since I don't like Glock, why would I want a cut-rate pseudo Glock? Doesn't appeal to me.
Right
Now, I know the entire shooting world has swallowed the polymer striker fired Kool-Aid, and the current doctrine flowing from 'gun rag' mags and Internet 'Experts' clearly preaches that you can't achieve 12th Level Black belt in backyard ballistic gelatin assassin, and you'll certainly fail to 'Level Up' as wannabe video game operator if you don't carry some black plastic 18 round, Picatinny-railed Tupperware, but I'm pretty confident that 50+ years of steel and alloy guns aren't suddenly rendered obsolete because "the LAV' or the Guns & Ammo Tactical Annual says so.

Personally, I'll take a nice 4506, 1006 or even a 3906 loaded with very hot 9mm (since no 3rd Gen ever came in .357Sig) over any polymer crunchentickers, don't care who makes it.

Just one crotchety old Irishman's opinion, YMMV....

I like the way you think !!
I've said it on here many times that I'd sell all my other guns before I'd let my 4506 go.

I am pretty happy with the third gens that I have.

A 4506, 4566, 645, 1066, two 1006s, and a partridge in a pear tree. :D
