Found a somewhat local (500 mile R/T) 4", 586 no dash, in the original box, with all the goodies, that appears to be in excellent shape. Guy is asking $700, but I might be able to get it for a bit less, maybe not.
A road trip is always a good thing for the wife and I, especially when going for a nice Smith. Is that a fair price? I'm more of a 22, or larger N frame guy, and haven't been keeping track of the 586 market. I know it's an iconic gun, and don't have one, only a 6", 686-1. Thoughts?

Great price!
I bought my cherry no dash 6 months ago for $900 with pachs; looks better with combats.

Definitely a great price. I would love to see a picture of it.

At my show (legitimately one of the finest in the nation) what you describe as high condition but not mint, in original box… probably tagged about $1,000 to $1,100. Likely sell for a bit under that.

I thought I would add this to the conversation. It's a ANIB 581 with out the over stamp. It belongs to a good friend who is now into S&W revolvers.

Good (or great depending on location) price for that 586. I always watch for ANY no-dash "L" frame. I'm still trying to replace all the early "L"'s I had 40+ years ago.

,,,,,,,a couple that are not going anywhere,

I always like a good "L" frame thread. Please post some pics when you get it!.
