I've recently come into possession of a 4" Model 10 and have fallen in love with the gun. I'm thinking about using it for my carry gun and have been reading and reading and researching the various options available and am really just lost on where to go.

I'd like to carry the gun in the small of my back and was wondering what others are using for that type of carry with this gun.

Thanks.

you could look at the Safariland 568 (39.99) at the Cabelas site or the Fobus (25.99) at the Opticplanet site. I think both give options of strong side/cross draw/ or SOB. for not much money, and after you find which carry best suits that pistol, maybe later go higher dollar. I am looking at one of the two for my new "67"

Can't beat the model ten, been around since the 1800's and still going, main law inforcement gun for years and years. Just watch for rust, keep a good wax job on it because the oil sucks up water like a good rag and make it rust easy. In the center of the back is best for summer and a shoulder rig is best for winter.

As a retired cop I would strongly advise against SOB carry. If you fall and land on your back, you could be injured, including momentary paralysis.

There's a tendency to always be checking for orientation when the weapon is placed in a typical SOB holster. If someone makes a gun grab it's very difficult to defend against.

Look at Lobo Gunleather or Simply Rugged Holsters for a strong side carry holster. either IWB or Owb. Both are excellent makers for a sensible price.

OK, I did forget to mention that I was preferring IWB. Thanks for the replies so far.

Any IWB holster from a quality manufacturer will do nicely. A spread-loop holster conceals better IMHO than one with the loops on the body of the holster (think Milt Sparks VersaMax versus Summer Special).
