I just bought a Model 19-6 at the local gun show. It is a 4" RB. Did they make a round butt in the -6? Or is this a re barreled 2 1/2" gun? The serial number is BEF55XX. Beautiful gun and I am more than a little excited.:) No Box. I looked in the SCSW but didn't find much information there. Also is there any significance in the numbers on the inside of the grip frame?
Thanks
Ed

I called Smith & Wesson on this gun and they said DOM was Nov. 2, 1989. It shipped as a 2 1/2" gun. :( I of course had been hoping it shipped as a 4" RB. That was a little disappointing but it is a nice gun. I need to take it out and shoot it to see if I like the 4" Round Butt.:) I might search for a 2 1/2" barrel since I already have the gun and I have always wanted a 2 1/2".

I think it will be a nice gun to carry and shoot. I wouldn't care how it shipped. Never saw but one like that and I couldn't buy it. Larry

It may not original but I wager it will be a sweet shooter.

The very last model 19s (-7?) were RB only, as the factory stopped making almost all SB frames during that time. They only returned with some of the Classic series guns.

I would not be surprised if they made a 4" Model 19 in round butt. I've got a 4" Model 15-3 in round butt.

I've been looking for one of those but only find them for sale when I can't afford it. (smile)
