I bought a 4" nickel 586 on a whim some 7-8 years ago and I havent fired a single round through it, so I figured its time to sell it and make room for something I might actually use.
However, I'm not sure if there's any collectors value in it, or if I should sell it as a shooter. It hasnt had the "M" mod done to it, and I'm thinking that if sold as a shooter, that is more likely to be an issue than if sold to a collector.
Should I just have it sent to S&W and have it done either way?

If you are getting rid of the gun, you should probably let the next owner make that decision.

I have never seen a recall-eligible gun sell for less money than market due to the recall not having been done.

Please feel free to post up some photos, as we really like pics !

Leave it original. It is not a rare gun, but the combination of being unfired, unmolested and nickel make it more attractive to the collector. I sold a used, no dash, no"M", nickel 4" model two years ago to a very motivated buyer for over $900.00 without the box. I was at least the second owner. Good luck.

It's unfired by me, but the previous owner put some rounds through it for sure, probably not many though.
A few quick pics of the gun (and our kitchen floor :))
