I recently started training with my holster at 4 o'clock, and it feels ok to draw from there, as my holsters are all canted 15% and, ergonomically, it feels it is the right spot to carry and draw from.
I noticed after a couple of days that I had black marks on my back. I did not realize feeling the grip where it was was going to cause those hematomas. They do not hurt or anything... Just curious to know if you have similar experience(s)...

Pressure shouldn't cause hematomas or ecchymoses unless the holster is too tight or you are banging it as you become seated at a desk or in your car or something.

As a secondary matter, I have never quite figured out where 4 o'clock carry is - can you be more specific?

Carry positions are commonly referenced using a clock face; with 12:00 being directly in front of you, 3:00 being your right side, 6:00 is small of the back, etc..

In addition to talking to your Doctor about a tendency to bruise easily you may want to consider that those marks are simply the result of die being leached from the grip by your swear. Note, if you are carrying with wood or polymer grips you can probably ignore that bit about die, however if you have black rubber grips you need to be aware that most rubbers are died.

I've had moistened leather leave dye stains on my skin. Stays there for a couple of showers. Florida humidity and some personal exertion might account for it.

Here in humid SC, I use AlienGear Cloak Tuck 3.0 for IWB. Its Neoprene (scuba material) against the skin. Might try a T-shirt, to see if it gets dye transferred.

you wouldn't be taking an aspirin a day for your heart or some other medication which would cause it .. I get that type of bruising on my arms but never have never had a holster cause it ..

But seriously though no issues for me carrying there and cinch my belt snug

This is what I believe to be 4 o'clock in my body...

Just got my Alien Gear holster... I tried it for a day or so at 3 o'clock... Seems to work well for now...

I am pretty sure it was the grip and not the holster that caused it. I felt it every time I sat down or moved my body while training realistic scenarios..

Do you generally bruise easily, or is this a new finding? Unless you are playing tag-team/body slam wearing your holstered gun, a trip to your regular physician may be in order.

Its a new finding... I think I am going to hold off on talking to the doc...

I posted some pics below... And yes, it was sitting and standing and moving to practice realistic scenarios that probably caused them...

LOL... New finding... Perhaps 4 o'clock might not work for me after all, unless I have a different holster... I just got an alen gear one... We'll see what happens... I don't think my buddies would like to play body slamming anymore... perhaps 30 years ago...:D

Good luck.

For my husband and I, a carry closer to 3:30-4:00 is more comfortable and prints less, but everyone is different.

Yes, I think that's where I was carrying, I had to adjust front and back, as drawing seemed awkward, from there, since I had preferred appendix carry for a while, but, like you say, it prints less, and is more discrete...

I'll keep seeing what works best for me...
TY
