Hi all,

I have been a bit slack posting for a while now but slowly getting back into it.

I found a 4 screw 29 today - SN. S198XXX. It is straight but has very worn blue. I assume its about 1959. Not sure what the grips are (Herrets I think) but the gun is tight and straight.

The best thing about this gun was the price... US $277.00 (AUD $349.00)

Due to the condition I will probably get it refinished. As you guys may remember I have posted a couple of re blued guns before . I am lucky to have an amazing refinisher who can do pretty close to factory refinish on S&W and Colt.

I will update as I go :)

Cheers!!

Mike

I'd do a little shooting with it first,,,, would make a great "truck gun", nice find down under!

A Model 29 in any condition for 2.75 Benjamins? I would have been busting my rear end to get to any local bank, in any country to get you rupees, rials, pesos, pounds, euros or whatever floats your boat for that one.

Talk about a shooter.....that one is just simply the cats meow! You did great........and the leather if it came with the gun reflects just about the same amount of well worn age. Somebody carried that big bore daily and obviously it was a working gun. Did you buy it in Australia, or if not, what country is it coming to you from?

Great find, great price, great gun.

There is a gun that's done some travelling. Well worn but cared for, as it shows no signs of neglect. Very nice. I'd be awful tempted to let it keep that earned look of an honest life of hard work. Nice find. Let's see the other side, please. :)

What a great find! Not being one of the anti-refinish guys, especially in this case, if you know someone who can do factory-quality work, I'd agree with your decision to spruce this old gun up - especially since you say mechanically it's in good condition. Will be interested in your updates. Congrats on finding this old .44 and giving her a new home. :)
