I have a blue fixed sight .40 HP I don't shoot. Thinking about selling off. Box papers etc. 2-3 mags through it. LNIB. Any idea on value? I don't have time right now to sign up on GB to see sold prices. I'll try that tonight.

Browning HP’s have always been pricey, but the .40 S&W is deader than Elvis in my area. The caliber just doesn’t sell, regardless of the platform. I think $600.00 - $700.00 might be possible, but I would not hold my breath. You may do better trying to trade it.

I gave mine to my son several years ago. He likes free guns.

GB recent sales puts the value for an epoxy finished LNIB .40 S&W Hi Power at around $625.

If it's polished and blued or the two tone practical model, the value is around $800-$850.

An SFS Hi Power in .40 S&W recently sold for $675 (epoxy finish, excellent condition, no box), so they seem to bring a bit more than the standard epoxy finished Hi Power as they are less common.

My brother has one of these, and years ago bought a 9mm barrel for it. (~$200)
That made it VERY cool because as you know the .40 has 3 barrel lugs vice 2 for the 9mm.
This combination gives a nearly indestructible 9mm BHP and made it a keeper for him. He tells me he was about to part with it before he discovered 9 barrels were an available thing.
Something to think about.

I had a 40 S & W high power for while. it just didn't feel right compared to the 9 mm high power that I had. they had to add a bunch of steel to the slide and a much stronger recoil spring. even with these changes compared to a 9 mm I just wonder how long it would last. I had put about 1,500 rounds or so through it.

.40 aren't well regarded in the hi power community. That'll be a cheap sell comparatively to the 9.

Members above have it right. It's a $600 to $700 gun in my area depending on condition. It's just not the same as the 9mm versions which are all going for $1K and up from there.

I had one years ago and I liked it. Purchased it because my agency supplied .40 ammunition. Sold it to a friend. Regret that. $700.00 seems like a fair price, but I'm not an expert. Good luck.

I didn’t know about that. Hmmmmm. FWIW mines a polished blue not painted.
I have a 9mm Hi Power and haven’t shot either in probably 25-30 years.

The HP in .40 cal. has never been a big seller. Don't expect to get near the price of a "real" Hi Power. I agree at maybe $800-900 depending on finish ( blued or painted) for one in excellent condition.

FWIW I've got a Ciener(sp?) .22 conversion kit for my 9mm HP ..... might be another option...... not a target gun but a fun gun for the range and kids.... about $200 IIRC......

I put together a small range bag with the HP frame and both uppers....three each 9mm and .22lr magazines and 9mm and .22lr ammo...... great for grab and go to the cabin for the weekend kit.
