Yes as stated many times above. Makes no difference. Pick any load you want. You are most likely not capable of out shooting the gun. Any of them. The gun is not part of the answer. Personal preference is. Your comfort level, your sight picture, your breathing...? Unaware of any hardcore test where various handguns were placed in a rest and 10-15 different loads were run and notations made. Could there be one loading that is inherently more accurate...of course. Doubt anyone can shoot well enough to tell. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Although my specialty is tactical rifles, I have over 30 years experience with double action revolvers (including over 5 years shooting PPC with the FHP).

I guess I'll try some different brands of 180 gr bullets. My particular M&P definitely doesn't shoot well with 155 Speer Gold Dots.

If anyone has a .40 Cal. M&P that does well with a particular bullet weight, or a specific brand of bullet, please let me know. Finding the optimum bullet usually makes a huge difference. I'd just like to avoid buying a jillion different boxes of bullets.

It took serious testing to get my Glock to shoot as well as it does. My .40 Cal. M&P is my latest handgun. I hope it has the potential for good accuracy without too much expense.

As a gunsmith (since 1973), I've found that the accuracy of most firearms will improve far more (by switching bullets) than the average shooter can imagine.

Hey there. I reload for all my .40's, and I have found the full size, compact, and shield all do best with a 165gr gold dot, with 7.0gr of power pistol powder. I don't have a chrono but the advertised velocity in a 4" barrel is around 980. With my compact at 25 feet, I shoot 5 shots in a 2" group. For me, that's plenty accurate as most defensive shootings take place within 7-9 feet if I remember. Also, I'm able to do a "triple tap" and still be as accurate as with my old g17. I'm sure the round is more accurate than I am, but that's my 2 cents.
