What is the lightest recoil load for the .40 in factory loaded ammo.. Is there anything down around 9mm recoil so this .40 won't scare my wife...?

My wife hated shooting my G27 .40 and Sigma .40. She shot a .45 and liked it much better. She "made" me buy her a G36 that I can use when I feel like it. She is petite at 5'2", 112 and has no trouble with the recoil.

The Federal 165gr Hydra-shok is probably the lightest recoil at 960fps compared to the Remington 165 at 1140fps. But it's still more than the 9mm. About the only way to get it down is to handload for it and go to a lighter recoil spring.

Corbon's DPX is by far the softest .40 round I've come across. It shoots very accurately out of my M&P40c and the terminal ballistics look great (penetration and expansion). It's not easy on the wallet though, about $28/20. But as the saying goes, how much is your life worth?

As for practice rounds, I haven't been able to tell much difference in most loads.
