Hello, just took my brand new 40 shield to the range for its first fire. the first 75 rounds of range ammo went well. on the last 25 or so and most of the JHP (Hydra-shock & Golden Saber), i was having random trigger pull failures. it felt the same on the squeeze as usual but no firing pin strike. it seemed completely random and no consistent fix to make it cycle properly. i did no field stripping or cleaning on the range. some of the things i tried to fix it were; remove mag and re-seat; cycle a new round into chamber; partially pull slide to rear and release; sometimes just squeezing the trigger a couple times. all of these worked sometimes but not every time. there was a point where i couldn't get it to fire at all. and then after a short wait it did cycle properly for about 10 rounds. i'm not sure if it is a cleaning issue or possibly a factory error. any help or if anyone has had a similar problem with a fix would be appreciated. Thank you, Ben

kinda weird that it worked fine for 75 and then problems....seems like it has to be something with the firing pin....was it making light strikes when it didn't fire?....I took my shield 40 out for the ist time today also and no problems with 50 rounds of WWB 165gr.....hope you find something simple

That sounds too serious to carry. If it were me I'd call S&W and return it for repair. I have a Keltec P32 that had been flawless until once, on the range, it just stopped firing. It was returned to Keltec and they fixed it free, I had to pay $28 shipping but it is an older weapon and I'm not the original owner.

it does not seem to have a light strike effect. it seems like it didnt fully cycle. im checking out now while cleaning it from the range. i cannot seem to be able to reproduce the problem with the weapon unloaded
