4053

What would you pay for a used but not abused 4053? I know where one is that shows some holster wear but is mechanically good. It's cheap enough I'm thinking I really should be buying it just because it's a deal. But I'm not really a .40 guy and I don't see myself carrying it much.

Completed auctions on GB are $280 on the low end and $450 on the high end for used, not LNIB or NOS. How many mags come with it would also affect the price. For a local sale with two mags, $300.

The DAO S&W pistols are generally priced a little lower than their TDA counterparts. I'd say the $400 to $500 range is about right these days.

I generally carry a J frame in town and a larger revolver or full size auto pistol out in the weeds kicking around. So this wouldn't have much of a place in the lineup. I just hadn't seen any metal S&W of any stripe for that kind of money in a long time.

Well, it's a brick compared to a J-frame! But, they are very reliable and pretty cool too. Price is not bad.

Grab it for that price - the 401x, 405x non-TSW are robust 8rd single stack 40s - not to be confused with the 401xTSW, 405xTSW 9rd double stack or any of the 400x, 404x 11rd double stack.

Note the magazines are unique and may be hard to find, but they are out there.

At that price you could easily resell in classifieds below if you get it and dont like it.

That's a great price, and as stated before, the magazines are somewhat hard to find. Get it while you can. People often buy single stack 40xx models to be converted to 10mm.

Buy it and if you are not a 40 person make it a 10mm. That price is a great deal in 2023.

At $325 with two 9-round mags that 4053 is a good deal. I'd buy it even though I own a couple already.

The 4053 is a nice shooter and an easy carry pistol at only 27 ounces. The 4053 has the .45 frame so it can be converted to 10mm if you want to up the ante.

Buy it and enjoy it.

Bought this one 5 years ago to be converted to 10MM, but decided to leave it as is.

edit to add...reasonably priced spare mags can be found at gun shows, but not online very often.
