Hey all, I'm looking at a 4054 and trying to get the hive to either talk me into or out of it.
So, what's everyone's thoughts on this model?
Full disclosure: I'm a sucker for oddball and rarer Smith autos.

I have one - as i recall only 154(?) produced. Early DAO 3rd generation.

My went back to S&W a few years ago for a refresh and is immaculate.

I have not shot it since it returned and have considered selling it but like you, have an affinity for the more rare versions.

If its reasonably priced I'd probably pick it up.

They're asking 500, plus it will have to be shipped and transferred. About 540 to my hands. If it had the box I wouldn't hesitate...

I have two 4054s. One in mint condition, I paid $550 and the other that had about 300 rounds through it, looks to be in excellent condition, and I paid $385.

My two are tack drivers. They are 40 caliber pistols built on 45 frames, not on 9mm frames like too many 40 caliber offerings. This 45 frame model can be converted to 10mm if desired.

The single stack makes them feel great in the hand. The recoil is not a problem and comes right back on target if you have the proper grip on the pistol.

I'd hold off making an offer until 9 minutes before the auction closes, which should give you a clue as to any competition. I believe the pistol in its good condition is priced at the top now.

You will have a great pistol at a reasonable price if you can get it at the starting price. I've had it on watch status for a week now. I won't bid against you. Good luck!

Watch to see if it is relisted at a lower price. Just checked, it was relisted for the same price to end 3/27 @ 2100h.

I like the rare ones as well, but shipped to my hands would be:

$500 + $25 to ship + $52 in tax + $30 FFL transfer = $607

It is no wonder I never win any auctions.

Ouch!!! That tax on top of everything else is killer!

But at least your incoming transfer fee is lower than mine. This year, it's $40.00 at my preferred local dealer.
