40c or 9c

I've owned both and carried them quite a bit. The recoil of the 40 is a bit snappier but with a proper grip and stance it's quite controllable. Personally I prefer the 40 over the 9mm. Not for it's perceived "stopping-power" but because when we had an ammo shortage four years ago .40 ammo was easier to find than 9mm (at least in my neck-o-the-woods).

I have both 9 and 40 compact, also 45 compact and it depends on the ammo I am using which I like.

Strange as it sounds, the Winchester Ranger 127 gr. +P+ (RA9TA) is really soft shooting and accurate in my 9 compact and really accurate...go figure. So for that reason, I do like to carry the 9 compact. Other days, it's the the M&P 45 +P ranger 230 or the 40 M&P. All the compacts are very nice.

Seriously, I quit going smaller than the compacts for a number or reasons. I had to go through the sub compacts only to end up back at the compact versions as all around best. For me, the compacts conceal well, deliver good velocity and have just enough sight radius to handle any reasonable distance. Not to mention their capacity. That said, a person just has to decide what they like themselves.

But I don't find in general, much difference between the 40 and the 9 compact overall in accuracy nor do either have much recoil. A very nice size M&P.

44mag.com shows 10 round 9mm M&P mags in stock. I've had good luck wih GregCotellc.com for M&P mags as well.
FWIW, I LOVE my M&P9c. Very soft shooting even with good 125 /147gr. PD ammo. Helps me put them right on target.

Convert your 40c and call it a day. I am not a fan of 40S&W but my next gun will be an M&P40c because I can convert it to the other 2 rounds I do like.

I love my M&P .40 but a Ruger LC9 is in my plans. It's not even in the conversation for a Shield in the gunshop I use at this time. I have no idea how long the waiting list is. But, I love the way the Shield looks. The .40 packs a pretty good recoil with 180 grain jhp and is a little on the heavy side.

M&P 40c to 9c barrel swap...

.40c to 9c is very easy and simple...

All you need is the 9mm barrel and 9mm magazines. That's it nothing else. No spring changes and no special extractors needed. There's no need to worry or check dimensions, breach face and so on.

They work and work very good!

I have a 40c and I wa thinking about trading it for a 9c. What's yalls opinions of both guns?

The pistols are basically the same. Get the one that you are comfortable with, keeping in mind that it is the ammo, not the launcher, that does the job.

Ok --- original full size in SW40 -- ordered the SW 9mm barrel through Midway -- obtained the proper 9mm clips --- finally had a chance yesterday to try out the weapon --- not good -- wants to jamb about once every clip -- not sure what to think -- my first thought is that I need to switch out the spring -- looking for help on this as not a happy camper

I read in a thread somewhere, but for the life of me I can't remember which one, that the spring part numbers for the 9 and 40 were the same. I don't know where you'd get a diagram of the gun taken down with part numbers on individual parts on it, but that'd be the place to compare.

Does anybody know if dropping a 9mm barrel in a 40c only works with older models? Im looking to buy a 40c and love the idea of having 3 calibers with one gun. Two of my local gun shops say it can't be done. It can only be converted to .357 sig only. Any comments?
