Ok --- original full size in SW40 -- ordered the SW 9mm barrel through Midway -- obtained the proper 9mm clips --- finally had a chance yesterday to try out the weapon --- not good -- wants to jamb about once every clip -- not sure what to think -- my first thought is that I need to switch out the spring -- looking for help on this as not a happy camper

Did you order the factory barrel or a Storm Lake conversion barrel? The SL have some problems, but I've never heard of a factory barrel that has problems.

And how is the jam occurring? Stove pipe? Double feed? It could be anything from a spring being off a bit during reassembly to dragging your thumb on the slide to a backwards mag spring.

ARGUH!!!

LL-- factory SW barrel -- from Midway --- had several double feeds --- and this is going to sound dumb -- but how could the spring be in backwards?----------also --another newby ??(to M&Ps!) -- is this weapon suppose to lock open on last round?---cuz that is not happening either ---now b4 I get jumped on here --- I have not shot that pistol with the inteded 40 cal ammo--- brand new weapon and wanted the wife to get a feel for it b4 I bought one for her in 9mm --- thats my story and I sticking to it.

Also -- the same thing happened with two different clips and three different shooters--

Ya that's what I was trying to get across. It couldn't be spring related. Unless it was backwards I guess. Most of the parts in full size are the same in 9 & 40, and both compacts share parts respectively, but the full sizes and compacts do not share many parts.

With double feeds, could it be an extractor issue? My thoughts would be to go shoot it in .40 and see if it happens there too. Process of elimination.

Zactly -- and that will happen shortly --- but what about slide staying open when empty??

I've read of people having this issue when loading 9 in the .40 mags. If you're having the issue with 9 mags, I couldn't be of any help as I don't have any experience with this conversion

The only advantage that I see to the 40 is that ammo is usually available. I don't own and 40s, but I am thinking about buying one.
