Saw an ad for a model 41 that mentioned a removable internal weight. I'm no 41 expert, don't even own one, but I don't think I've ever heard of this. Can anyone educate me?

Quick answer is that there was a 1/2" x 3" (guessing) cylinder that screwed in under the front of the barrel, at least on the 7-3/8" barrel. The pistol came with a steel and an alloy cylinder (weight), the front end of the cylinder had a screw hole that was used to secure the false muzzle, or the muzzle brake.

Early production 7-3/8" barrel models have a hole 2-5/8" deep bored in the muzzle to accept a threaded aluminum or steel weight. The hole or end of the weight when installed is concealed by the removeable muzzle brake or protective cap. I don't know when this feature started and stopped production. I have a 1969 A series that came with 1 steel and 1 aluminum weight. I suspect the internal weights went away when the aluminum muzzle brake was dropped but not certain of that.

My friend has a ‘71 with the false muzzle brake. I have shot and disassembled it but don’t remember that much about it. I’ll check it out next time we shoot. I think the muzzle brake was just plastic so maybe the change was made by then. Interesting.
I pulled out my spare 7-3/8 barrel and took it apart to show how the barrel weight is installed then the compensator or false muzzle. Some of the ones I encountered over the years, the steel weight had rusted/frozen in. Takes a lot of Kroil to get it loose.
