41 vs K22

Sure.
The auto took over in bullseye for ease of use, not superior accuracy.

From a bench my model 41 just barely out shoots my model 17. Once I start shooting off hand, I can't tell the difference.

Thanks for the responses, I have a 41 and used to own a K22 but never shot one scoped. We do some informal shooting of scoped rimfires and I would love to put a wheel gun in the mix just to stir things up.

Many years ago an old time Bullseye shooter and I were testing a 6" K 22 and a Mod 41 7.5" and a 5" heavy barrel all in a Ransom rest, to remove the human variable.

All of them would shoot groups at 50 yards well under a 25 cent piece.

I was suprised the K 22 shot as well as the 41's.

wow, thanx for the ransom rest results.
that tells me what i was wondering about, as i figured they would be close.
i just thought the fixed barrel auto would beat the revolver by a tiny margin.

ralph, I thought that too, but I was suprised.

As a side note, when Jim Clark won the National 2700 Bullseye Championships, at Camp Perry he used a S&W Mod 25 REVOLVER in 45 ACP!!!!

Later he was WELL KNOWN for making some of the best [if not THE best] 1911 Target guns.

I knew him, and shot with him many times. He was a fine fella.

Let me add that the first handgun I ever bought was a 5" heavy barrel Mod 41, to shoot Bullseye with.

Much later when I wanted a 22LR specific for hunting small game, I bought a 7.5" Mod 41, as I thought it would give me great accuracy and high velocity with High Power HP's.

I was not disapointed..
