Has anyone ever removed a barrel from the Smith .22 sporter type rimfire autos? Is it just held in by the spanner nut at the front or is there some kind of compound on it to hold it in the frame? I find mine kind of beats up the lead bullets in feeding due to the lack of fine polish and sharp edges around the ramp and chamber. Of course cleaning that up would be easier with the barrel out, like on a 1911. Unblemished bullets might give better accuracy.
