Took these two kids out today for some shooting. Put about 170 round thru the 2 of them. Sighted in for 50 yards. I have to say that the PC one with the brake did have less recoil. The power port had more blast. Both a lot of fun. Another observation is the grips. While I really like both, shooting the hogue ones bare handed wouldn't have been possible all day. They are really rough on the skin, so after the first 3 cylinders I put gloves on.

I love the dirty pics Cory. 175 rnds makes for a good range day. I'm glad to see you got that Comp Hunter out for a test drive. Was it every thing you'd hoped it would be?
Also, are you shooting full strength magnums? I haven't had any problems with mine beating me up. My loads generally run 950 fps.

Dirty S&W model 629 44Mags

Thank you so much for showing the powder
dirty S&W's.

I get so tired of immaculate picture perfect S&W's
shown. What a waste of S&W Art Work. if you are
just very careful with them, the S&W will
stay nice forever. The next Care Taker won't have
to wonder why the previous owner didn't shoot
them.

As for the Grips, for me, the S&W Black Rubber
work the best for any lengthy shooting sessions.
I bought a 45Colt Mountain Gun awhile back, it had
the Wood Combat Grips. I shot only 6 rounds.
Put it back in my Range Bag, and shot my other S&Ws.
When I got home the ugly Wood Grips were taken off
immediately and replaced with S&W Rubber Grips.
The next time I went shooting what a positive difference.

Oh, yea the two revolvers below look clean because the
top one was bought new in the box and the 45Colt
happen to be clean. Both dirty now sitting in Pistol Rugs
in my Range Bag. Going shooting later.

I have the hogue grips on a 29 mountain gun & really liked them on that. It just the stippling that was going to tear my skin up on this one. In hindsight I may have had a glove on the whole time shooting that mtn gun that time.

The X frame grips on the Power Port are just great. I have put them on a few other 44’s. Plus they are cheaper than the hogues.

The PC 629 was awesome. I’m very happy with it. Satisfied buyer here & it makes me want the PC 629 Hunter even more now.

It was all full power factory ammo. Winchester 240 jhp, Magtech 240 jhp, Remington 180 jhp (big flash & blast) then 20 rounds of Hornady 300 xtp

Dang! No wonder you're tender! 170 rounds of factory will do that. If you keep pounding away on those you should grab another set of the Hogue tamers. Here's my dirty pic from this afternoon.

I will prob get another x frame grip. They really work well.

If yesterday wasn't enough, I did about 30 rounds in my Browning 1886 in 45-70. The low pressure stuff I can shoot all day, but this was all Buffalo Bore 8B, 8A & HSM Bear load stuff. Truth be told I had on a tee shirt, heavy sweatshirt & then 8 layers of towel between me & the curved steel butt plate. Was shooting at 200 yards mostly with a few at a 190 yard 12 inch steel plate. It was fun.
