Just got a 629-2, 44 Mag for Christmas. What are other forum users favorite dies for this round?

Congratulations! May you have an enjoyable life together!

Other than my Square Deal B presses, I use Lee Dies exclusively. Not because I have any special fondness for them, they are just what the local store stocks. I try to support local gun stores/reloading supply houses.

I have run a bunch of rounds through mine with no ill effect. These are carbide ones, and that is all I will buy for handgun rounds, and I have never had one scratched or that left a scratched case.

One thing I have heard is that with some presses, the Lee dies, don't work too well. I think it is the Hornady L-N-L AP (progressive) press. They work fine in my Dillon XL650.

p.s. Welcome to the forum!
What will you be using them in?

RCBS here as well..........a very old set that still performs to expectations, but, I use a Lee Crimp Die to apply a heavy crimp to max loads.

I've been using the same set of Lyman carbide dies for my .44 Special and Mags since the '70's with no problems. Most of my other dies are either RCBS or Hornady, plus a couple of Bonanza and Reddings. I have one set of Lee dies for my .32 Special, plus half a dozen Lee Crimp dies. No complaints, though I did have to swap out the rings in order to use the dies in my Co-Ax press.

RCleveland44....half a dozen Lee Crimp dies?!?!?!?! Sir I must admit that I am a bit envious!!!

rcbs dies i bought in 1971 and still using them. of current crop of dies i like hornady the best for its seating die.

I have three sets of Dillon dies with my RL550 press. And I've been happy, except for .45 Colt, which doesn't size my cases small enough for a good friction fit on the cases. Solved that by switching to the .45 ACP sizing die.

Dilion, RCBS and Redding over all had the RCBS the longest Redding came in a trade it's a good die Dillion for the 550B

I use Lee carbide dies with an RCBS Rock Chucker press. That combination works for me.
