Hello guys. I'm needing some 44 help. I have both a pre29 5 screw that is I would say a smooth shooter. Bluing isn't perfect but it's fun to shoot has the original cokes. Serial s156xxx. Next I have a 29-2. Beautiful 4in beautiful bluing presentation box. The accessories. The bad the coke grips trashed. I have the original pair the owner had that are worse than these. The ones on it I bid on ebay and shouldn't have. They look horrible but feel good. On to my problem. I can't seem to find a good set of cokes. I've been watching for the past 8 months and no dice. Should I pull the cokes off the pre29 put on the 29-2 and buy a good set of troopers for the pre29? Any advice is appreciated. I don't shoot a lot. They pretty much are for my enjoyment and to be passed down to my 2 boys.

I thought this case was correct for this gun. The serial is s238xxx I should have stated it earlier.

The correct case is a clamshell case. The case you have is for a Model 57 and dates to 64-65. I would guess your 29-2 was shipped in 1963. I would continue to look for a decent pair of coke bottle stocks for your 29-2 and leave the original stocks on your 44 Magnum.

Hi Bill,
How does one know that this is a Model 57 case and not a Model 29 or 27 case recovered with crushed velvet?
Thanks, John
