44 Magnum Muzzle Flash Captured by High Speed Camera

That's a beautiful snub-nosed 629 .44 magnum you have. What is the S&W model #? Is it a 2 5/8" barrel?. I looked at the S&W factory website but they do not appear to have the same model listed.

Also, Buffalo Bore certainly makes some hot ammo. That stuff could make a self-defense shooting at a gas station quite spectacular.

You won't find it on the S&W site. Its was, once upon a time, a simple 3" 629-6 Talo deluxe edition but the trigger was horrible and I liked the sights on my then owned 44 magnum Nightguard so I sent it to S&W's Performance Center for custom work. I had them fit and sight in a C&S Extreme Duty fixed rear sight and perform the master revolver action package. And its wearing Altamont grips; a gift from a friend on here, Maximumbob54.

Nice flames.

When I was shooting me hotter than max reloads out of my ruger SBH we were getting a 15" flame out the muzzle and two 10" flames out both sides of the cylinder in the daylight. Everyone on both sides of me at the range packed up and left. This was the day when the 44mag was on the top of the heap before all the larger calibers arrived. Do not try this at home I was young and stupid at the time. Heck we were all a little crazy. Bigbill

Btw, I love my 44's even to this day. But the new caliber on the block is the 41mag. I need to get a ruger to really stretch the new caliber out. I'd like to try some of Elmer Keith's loads someday. RIP Elmer the godfather of handgun hunting.

Many years ago I went to the most haunted place in my area and I put 400 film in my cheap camera and I caught ghost orbs on my film actually moving frame to frame in multiple pics.

cutting your finger off on a revolver put a smile on old lips,,in 63 bought my first 357 ruger black hawk with a custom made leather(I still remember the pain on the guys face when this punk kid 18yrs old bought his rig cause he needed money) anyways all my gun knowledge is self learned and at that age,not much,,wrapped my left hand around the cylinder to steady for the long shot and blew my thumb tip apart alittle,,till this day I can see the black spots in the skin!!!as of recent was 2 stations down from a 454 casulland could feel the pimgs on my face..i shoot a 29-3 with 6" barrel with great caution always!!THOSE WERE COOL PIXS FOR SURE

What I love about these +P Deer Grenades is that Buffalo Bore asserts that

This bullet is properly alloyed, lubed and is gas checked; it will NOT lead-foul barrels.

This load is designed to be safe in ALL/ANY, all steel firearms that are in normal operating condition. We do not recommend its use in lightweight alloyed revolvers as the bullets may jump the crimp.

I just purchased a ruger super Blackhawk in 44mag with a 10 1/2" barrel for handgun hunting. I then purchased the 270gr & 300gr bullets to load up and the Cor-Bon 300grs too. I'm sure they will hault anything on four legs.

Wow, cylinder of flame dissipating into a fire ring. That is very cool; would have never guessed that the fireball could actually morph into a cylinder-and dissipate into a ring of fire. I clicked on this thread expecting to see the usual flared and tapering "water drop" shaped fireball and was pleasantly surprised. Well worth the side trip!

Excellent. For all those pistol only newbies, there is a reason, here vividly illustrated, why shooting with "thumbs forward" is a bad idea. Pick up a revolver, out of bad habit based upon questionable pistol training, you use the same sort of thumbs forward grip, and voila - severed thumb. A word to the wise. . . .

Exactly! On a revolver, tuck your thumbs!
