NT-430
N-frame, Target, .430 bore diameter.

Planning on going to North Carolina for the Symposium in June. Going to have a display. Think table title will be 1st Year Magnums. This 1st year 4-inch 44 Magnum will be one of the guns displayed. It shipped December 14, 1956.
Got this nice literature from Forum member 29-1. Thanks Chuck.
January 1, 1957 Parts List says 44 Magnum NT-430.
January 1, 1960 Manual says .44 Magnum Revolver - Model No. 29. Also got these three early ads.

Dave, look for the 1956 All Model Circular with the 44 Magnum shown which will be the first company advertisement for the 44 Magnum and the 357 Combat Magnum pre-19 listed with the K frames. The NT430 along with the KT 357 parts sheets are the first parts sheets for those revolvers and are the pre Model parts sheets for those two revolvers. In Jan 1957 those parts sheets were standardized and were replaced by the Model and parts pamphlets that came with all models in the box a couple of year later. Hopefully Bill will see this and ungarble it for you, LOL.
Regards
Chuck
Glad someone is putting these to good use! Interesting fact, your 44 Mag 4" gun was shipped on my 6th birthday in 1956. I have S153912 a 6 1/2 in blue gun that shipped on 12/14/1956 to Oshman's in Houston. If you ever want to sell or trade your 4" gun, I'm your guy!

Chuck, I had a 4-inch 4 screw 44 Magnum about 99% with case and tools that I got from my father's estate. Foolishly sold it and had big regrets. This gun was my attempt to replace it. It's not as nice as his and no accessories. I like that it is a 5 screw and a 1st year gun and a 4-inch. This one went to Edward K. Tryon, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I would not sell it, but would be happy to trade it for another 4-inch 1st year gun. My dad liked the short barrels. After the Symposium would trade it for a later 4-inch.
You sent me four AMCs and they will all be useful in my display. 1941 shows the .357 Magnum at $60, same price as when it was introduced in 1935. Interestingly the photo used must be of a Registered Magnum. Small logo on the left side. That changed in 1937.
1956 that you mentioned. First year for the 44 Magnum, the .357 Combat Magnum and the Chiefs Special Airweight. 1956 was quite a year.
I like the 1960 circular because it shows model numbers.
1961 is the first year for the .22 Magnum Model 53.

The guns I am planning on taking are a .357 Magnum from 1935, the 44 Magnum and the .357 Combat Magnum from 1956 and the Model 53 from 1961.

I'm in need of a copy of the NT-430 Parts list to nearly complete my Pre 29 display. I will be happy to pay postage and your inconvenience. Or even a nice clear e mail picture would work. I've given up looking for an original so will settle for a copy.

Thank You for your consideration
Terry

Where is the symposium and what day? I assume you mean June 2025. Is the symposium open to anyone to attend (not to display)? I'd love to go to one of these and I live in NC.

Concord NC, outside of Charlotte.

June 11-15, 2025

IIRC, if you're not a SWCA member, I THINK you have to be a guest of a member.

You have belonged to this forum for almost nine years. You really, really need to join the SWCA!

Thanks for the info, it's probably worth a membership to go. Concord is less than an hour drive.

What is the venue location? I don't know Concord all that well but can easily find my way around.

OK, you guys have talked me into it. If I can get my printer to play nice with my iPad, I'll print out a membership app. I was already planning a trip for that weekend, and lo and behold it's been delayed. It must be Karma!

I know this event is way different from a public gun show, but is it within the rules of acceptability for newbies who don't have enough for a proper table to bring a few things for "show&tell"? Some folks have said they'd like to see Project 616 and a few similar items I've accumulated.

I just love it when a plan comes together!

Displays at the symposium range from one-gun displays (there is actually a judging category for one-gun displays) to displays that cover multiple tables with guns and supporting stuff. Displays include modern S&W guns, S&W automatics, S&W long guns, antiques, break tops, pre-war hand ejectors, etc... There are non-gun displays of paperwork, grips, tools or other S&W items. I love all kinds of different displays. If you have one or two guns that are interesting to you, I would love for you to display them and talk me through why you find them interesting. One display table comes with the symposium fee. I have seen enough of your posts to know that you have some fun guns.

Please bring something to display - then some kind of description of the gun(s)/item(s) that you bring. A display table also creates a place in the show to put your stuff and sit and talk with other members.

Symposiums are so fun...
