What would a set of nice walnut gold medallion grips sell for? If I could find them??

How would that compare to the standard walnut grips?

I'm still looking for that nice triple lock, I'm just trying to do a little research..

I don't have very good luck with the search function, LOL. thanks in advance, feel free to PM if you have any thoughts you would rather not share on the open forum, thanks Billy:cool:

The grips varied depending on the year a Triple Lock was manufactured. The concave walnut ones were replaced with the "gold" medallion ones around 1910. The concave ones are much harder to find than those with medallions, not that those are easy to find either. I haven't seen nice ones for sale recently but would guess they're probably in the $300 to $400 range.

Here's my 1909 Triple Lock target with the correct concave ones and with the medallion ones that came on it when I acquired it.

Here is my 1916 gun with gold medallion grips. Think I paid $325 for them a couple of years ago. Got $150 for the MOP that were on the gun when I got it. Found several pairs for less money but none of them fit the gun well. Were all too small. Maybe refinished or maybe they shrank in a 100 years.

Wow! such a lovely old Smith & Wesson,, I knew triple locks were going to be pricey,, but I must say, I'm a little shocked at the price tags, LOL Beautiful gun, beautiful grips... I'm looking at one in th exact same configuration as your gun and I like it a lot..

The gun that started all this expensive trouble is a 4" 44 Special with gold medallions,, I still have a little hope that gun will once again be available, but not much...

So how does your triple lock shoot???, I've seen over the years a lot of early big bore service grip guns with the grip adapters?? Gent's thank you so much for posting, to everyone, and thanks for the PM's as well. Billy

Thank you sir!

I haven't shot it, quite possibly never will. Might shoot the one I picked up in October one of these days but haven't gotten to it yet. Good luck in your hunt.

Thank you,, I'm having a nice time looking for the "right gun", it's really a crying shame, I've always wanted a 44 Special, and loved the triple lock just as long... and the Smith and Wesson 44 magnum has managed to scratch that itch, while being able to handle the higher horsepower...

but now? I've really got to wonder what I've been thinking? I've got a couple of nice 29-2's and a 5" 29-5, and I've enjoyed shooting 44 specials in those fine guns.. and I've got several amazing pre model 27's, a 27 no dash, a 3 1/2" 27-2, and a 627,, but no triple lock. Nice triple locks have always seemed to be "just our of reach"?, now they truly are, but I'm on a mission to find some kind soul to entrust his triple lock to me, and continue his stewardship of one of these classic Smith and Wesson's.

Thanks for all the kind responses gents, and thank you for posting pictures of your guns and grips!
