Anyone know a source for full 5 round moon clips for a 442? Mine came with three and I've lost/misplaced a couple of them at the range. I'm looking for some replacements.

I just saw these guns tonight. I was wondering about them.... would be fast to load for sure.... but harder (maybe) to carry spare ammo vs a speed strip.
Does anyone have a Factory SW 642 or 442? If so, how do you like them? Sorry about the hijacking!

My opinion and my opinion only... Moon clips are not the big advantage that most make them out to be.
For the original question, be sure to get the correct moon clips for your gun. They are not all the same (different thickness).

Contact Ranch Products. I believe they supply the moonclips that S&W ships with their guns. Don't be afraid to buy a quantity of 50 or even 100. You will be paying about $1.00 per moonclip, when you purchase them in a larger quantity, and you can easily sell the extras. You might even want to place an ad in the accessories for sale forum, just to see how much interest there would be from other forum members.
I have to respectfully disagree with Photoman44, I have a Performance Center model 627 which uses moonclips. I think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. You are correct in that the moonclips or even speed loaders will be cumbersome to carry when compared to speed strips. I recommend having the cylinder champfered to make loading really fast. Even though the cylinder of my 627 was champfered at the factory, I had it champfered a little more to speed up my reloads. Check out some of the you tube videos, to see how fast moonclips can be.

My daily carry is an S&W 642. I use a speed strip for discreet carry.
I use Ranch Products full moon clips for my 625's. I have been happy with them. I would contact them for prices on the .38 Special full moon clips for the 642 as the other poster suggested. Call them on the telephone and order:

Please note that the current production 442's require moon clips of a specific thickness. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the ones that come with the new guns are from TK.
Moon clips are fine for gamer and range guns, but I've had too many problems with cartridge ignition, headspace and bent clips to rely on a moon clip gun for gunfighting.
