[Snapping Twig]

Me, not the gun.

Two 24-3's sitting in the used section at the LGS, both 6" partridge sights.

Been there a while, couple months, marked at $750ea.

Had them both out, checked 'em over, one was better - both were real good.

Got a discount down to $685 + tax & DROS for $770 out the door.

I do not need it, nor do I have any room in the safe.

But... it's a 24-3 in premium condition, so I'll find a way.

Not in love with the 6" barrel, but it balances well and will be a great addition to the range bag. If this piece shoots as well as the other N frame 44Spl's I have it will be an unfair advantage with the targets.

Pics tomorrow. I ran out of time, had to be home by 6 for dinner. I'll do the paperwork and take some snaps at that time.

BTW, where is the LGS? Now one of us can negotiate on the second one knowing they let an even better one go for $685

I think you made a wise choice, six-inch barrel or not. The .44 Special is an extremely versatile cartridge. If I ever start reloading again, that's be the first set of dies I buy, followed closely by a set of .45 Colt dies.

Be very careful. My addiction to the 44 special all started with the 6.5' 624 and went to heck in a handbasket in a very short time. Lew Horton 3" 42-3 followed by a 4" bbld 24-3 and a sadly depleted gun budget for that year. Think you will find that the 44 special and S&W handguns chambered for it have more than a cult following here. Frank

Nice find. I checked GB earlier today and there were zero 6 1/2" 24-3.

I bought one just like it back in the late 70s or early 80s from Gil Hebard. My only regret is I chose the 6 inch barrel instead of the 4 inch. BUT I now own about 8 44 specials! Wouldn't part with any of them unless it was that 6 inch, which I would ONLY trade for a 4 inch.

This is my 4th 44Spl.

I am delighted with the cartridge. Rolling my own gives me the ability to dial them in exactly the way I like 'em. I'm going to bust out a old bucket of wheel weights and start casting up. My most recent bucket is 50% zinc.

Be careful that partridge sight doesn't fly off! I like the Patridge sights myself.
