Has anyone had a problem with new 45 auto from brass from R-P spliting. I got 500ct form Midway five years ago. Just now loading them. After One load They have small splits. Ihave load this 100ct for the 500ct box four time now. how of that 100ct 22 have split. The load is 4.7 grs of WST 200swc not a hot load at all.My star brass does not do that. Iam out fo star brass now and can"t get more so far going back to ACP brass

Sounds like you got a bad lot of Remington brass. I have been using Remington .45 AR brass for over 30 yrs. without splitting one. My more recent brass is Starline. I use them interchangeably with no problems.

You and I must have gotten a few hundred rds from the same lot. About five years ago I bought a mess of RP AR brass from GRAFS and 1/3 of them split upon initial firing. RP would do nothing about it...it was MY reloading technique...or my pistol!!

I called Starline and talked to a few of their people trying to convince them to start producing Auto Rim brass. Year later and I get 200 new Starline brass in the mail with a request to test it and report back.

I now use Starline for ALL of my Auto Rim loading. Far easier than the crappy RP.

I've not had any problem with Remington AR brass (or Starline, for that matter), but I've heard others report on problems with Remington - all from about that same period of time.

I had read in the past that R-P 45AR was not the best choice. I have used Starline or Top Brass for my 45 AR loads with 100% satisfaction. Normally, primer pockets get loose first. I only recall having one case split with Top Brass.........that case had been loaded 18 times.......the load was for a 255gr. SWC loaded over 5.5 gr. of Universal. My 200gr. SWC plinking loads over 4.1 gr. of VN 310 can be reloaded ad nauseum.

I have been using Starline brass with absolutely no problems but, in truth, I haven't been using it long enough to really talk about longevity.

However, I quit using Remington brass in .45 ACP YEARS ago as it is entirely too thin and I don't get good bullet tension (leads to deep seating bullets as they hit the feed ramp in my autos - this is a potentially dangerous trait).

Of course, that particular trait is hardly a problem in the revolvers unless you are loading heavy bullet loads.
