This may be sacrilege to some. It was all put together from parts, so no assembled classic went under the knife here.
This just came in from JRH today.
S&W Heavy Duty I picked up as just a frame, and slowly added pieces as I found them.
The frame is post-war, but pre-1957 ; No model designation.
I know it's taken at least 5 years to get the parts together. It may be creeping up on 10.
Barrel rebored by Siegrist & remarked by Harton to ".45 Colt CTG."
The Model 29 cylinder, rechambered by Jack to a tight .45 Colt, sports Harton's Black Powder Bevel work.
Grips are Maple by Culina.
I wiped it down, but I still had some oil show up in the pics.
Those aren't shadows on the grips, that striation is in the grain.

That is absolutely fantastic. I like your project dedication and love the finished product...specifically 5" N frames, 45 Colt, and Culina grips. If you ever get tired of it, shoot me a PM.

AND fixed sights.

This might well be the perfect fighting handgun. Especially with M1909 brass, slightly more rim for better extraction

S&W should have made that a factory offering back in the day. Probably wouldn't have sold many or they would have. It would be great to find one already made --- maybe a WTB in the Classifieds? Otherwise it would be a great project, just as long as you don't use a pristine HD as the starting point.

I've admired Huntington's work for a long time but, he outdid himself here! Siegrist rebored my K22 barre; to .32 also. Another top artisan.

About a year before Huntington moved to Carson City and was near me, I had him rebarrel a Colt SAA To .44 Special and rebore a .38 Special cylinder. Factory ammo fit perfectly but my hand loads wouldn't. His reboring was so precise that it was unforgiving with my resizing. So I now take more care resizing and it's fine. He had beautiful SA grips laying on the counter and cylinders made from scratch. All in a big rustic barn out in the country.
What a great .45 you got, and if the chambers are recessed like I bet they are, Wow! But if not, still a wonderful gun.

Well done! [emoji106]
