The search didn't give much info, so here it goes......

Can .45 GAP be fired from my 625-8 JM in moon clips effectively and without damaging my revolver?

Just something that's been bouncing around my head for a while.

I just bought 250 rounds of Speer GAP 200gr gdhp, and shoot it in my 625-3. seems to be very accurate.( price was too good to pass up)
I just make sure I clean the cylinder completely after shooting gap and before I use regular 45 ACP.

I was surprised when I did a search, with no results There has been several discussions on this forum about using the .45 GAP in .45 ACP revolvers.
No problem using the .45 GAP in .45 ACP revolvers with moon clips.
What you will find is that the extractor grover is smaller in the .45 GAP then then .45 ACP, This will cause the .45 GAP round to be looser in the moon clips then the .45 ACP rounds. But they will still hold okay

Chuck,

Can you share your source for that ammo? Even when I find someone who sells affordable .45 ammunition, they always seem to be out of stock or running low.

Thanks and regards

They will work in a 25. Just need to scrub them cylinders well after shooting them. I'd actually treat them with Militec-1 before firing them. You won't have any crud buildup and cleaning them holes is a breeze.

Wish that round would have taken off in a 1911 platform. Held one of the Springer prototypes and could reach the mag release without moving my hand. Grip felt so perfect and the round is perfect for self defense.

This thread is intriguing. When I read it my first thought was "why not", the only meaningful difference when it comes to chambering is that the GAP is shorter than the ACP. I'm always on the lookout for bargain ammo. Next time I see something in GAP that's less than comparable ACP I'll give it whirl in my 625JM.
