I have been shooting 45 Super out of revolvers and autos for 15+ years now.
Forget about the 645 without at least a spring change and perhaps a frame buffer.
The 325NG will handle the pressures of 45 Super but be a bear to shot.
I have Night Guards in 357 Magnum, 41 Magnum and 10MM Magnum.....they are not for the recoil sensitive.

Thanks colt saa. I figured it must be a little more difficult than just bumping up recoil spring weight and adding a shock buffer. I read a few more articles talking about chamber support and other engineering mods. It would be nice for an easy switch over when going into bear country. But sometimes things are not that easy

In my Colt 1911 I went up in recoil & mainspring pressure, in addition to a small radius firing pin stop. On a 645 you don't have the firing pin stop but the other two would still work. A Sprinco Recoil Management Guide Rod System adds a extra degree of control, which I also used. The S&W has better case support & if I come across a fair priced 4506 to play with, & not feel guilty about it, I will.
In my 325NG (27oz.) I've loaded up S-L 45 Auto Rim cases to 45 Super power with no problems. They're very strong cases & you can use cannelured bullets (45 Colt) that you can roll crimp to try & stop bullet jump with. It's a handful.

Why swap mags? I thought that the 45acp and 45 super were dimensionally the sameThem buy a full size USP

Unless you can pre-plan which rounds will need to be fired in which order, swapping magazines is the easiest/quickest way to reload the firearm with ammunition of a different power level
