This model has baffled me as an active hobbyist — you just never see ‘em and they hardly ever change hands.
Genuinely, from the heart, I bet Roy was handed some unknowingly incorrect information because I cannot believe 1,200 were made in either sight configuration.
I say this simply due to my familiarity and awareness of guns that we also have production numbers of where they made far fewer guns.
I’m talking the Stocking Dealer SD-9’s, the 4006 Limited, the second run 845 Model of 1998.
All of these are sub-200 unit produced guns and I have seen more of them out in the world and especially on Gunbroker (and in the heyday of Gunbroker which has since passed.)
I agree with the suggested value numbers posted. If you were considering selling yours, get the big fat gooey Hogue grip off it and find a set of OEM, likely the straight back, it will enhance the appeal of the pistol.
For what it’s worth, the 5905 is the same way. There may be production numbers that have appeared in a factory letter but unless that number is 250 units, I’m skeptical that it’s accurate.
