I purchased a set of trjicon sights for my 4506 no dash. Now I'm looking for a set of checkered wooden grips. Does anyone else have a suggestion for a must needed accessory or modification? Keep in mind I do not want to do anything that will permanently change the gun. Everything I do it I want to be able to bring it back to factory if needed. Thanks!

KSD grips. Looks like Iggy beat me to it.
You can use scotch brite pads on the stainless to get a very-darn-close-to-new look.
Maybe a recoil spring. That should just about do it. Unless you think you NEED tritium rear sights I recommend front only. Saves you money and hassle. I have tritium front only on many of my handguns and find that front sight very wasy to pick up in low light.

Thanks! Fortunately the finish is like new because the gun hasn't ever been shot. I will look into those grips.

The best grips I have ever found for a 4500 series pistol are the "FBI Palmswell" 1076 grips. I have them on all my full-sized 45 series guns, and they are awesome. They are found from time to time on this board and the auction sites.
Look like this (on a 4586 TSW)

The FBI palm swell grips are virtually impossible to find. The curved or rounded grips are available from sources periodically. FBI grip palmswell is product code #20500000.

I would suggest a stainless steel recoil spring rod as my stock aluminum rod was damaged with nothing more than light use many years ago (ring on end fractured). And even though your pistol may be unfired, a new recoil spring wouldn't be out of the question especially since it is inexpensive.

Just my two cents worth!

I wouldn't mod any classic Gen 1/2/3 S&W semi-auto. Their collector's niche is now gaining real steam and modding these pistols ruins their value as collectables. If you want to mod a firearm, get a modern production polymer framed rig and change it all you want but keep your 4506 pristine if you can. Or sell it to someone that will appreciate it as-is and use the money to get an XD or an M&P.

This is true^ and gives the ability to dry-fire practice without a magazine inserted, which is a big plus for me.
