4513TSW initial thoughts

My new (literally, it has been fired a few times) 4513TSW has come home.

Initial thoughts: It's bigger than my 3913 and 6906. It's front end heavy. Fully loaded helps the balance greatly!

Size-wise it is SOOOO close to the other compact 3rd gens it's scary. I can't wait to fire it tomorrow!!!

I have three third gens now, and I think I want the rest of the ones that look like these three... So all I need now is the 4013TSW, the 3913TSW, the 4053, the 3953, the 4553, the 6953 and any other numbers I don't know yet..

I ordered 3 new 4513 6-round mags from CDNN for $27 and free shipping!!!! I'm happy with that!!!

So many people like the 9mm. That is fine. All of us are different..
But in the world of self defense, I must encourage you to use the .45 for that. Reason?:

The obese size of people including (me) these days,

The low speed of the 45 vs 9mm and 40mm ( very important to the buildings/walls and people next door during a confrontation)

And less muzzle flip than the .40 and more knock down than the 9mm.
The guy who still is living from the Fort Hood disaster (7- 9mm's I believe) Still living vs his victims.. That is unfortunate proof irregardless of ALL the various "expert" opinions to me.
That is why I Have 2-4513 TSW's in Pristine condition along with a never fired CS 45 and a Pristine Shorty .45 All get carried along with either a 642 or a 686- 357.
Why 2? Size of people, guns they carry and I don't do reloads..

But again that's just me.. But you'll find the 4513 ideal in self defense as 21 feet normal distance or less for confrontations. So I am told..

Love the 3rd. Gens! I'm still working on my trio. I have a 6906 & a possible line on a 4516-1. If I get it then I'll be looking for a 40. I'm
not even trying to look at any with the letters TSW or CS after the
model number because they tend to be out of my price range. I'm
hoping I'll be able to bring my habit under control after I get one of
each.

I will post pictures soon because now I have questions... Looking at all my 3rd gens some have checkering on the front of the trigger guard, the 6906 has only vertical lines cut in the front of the grip, and the 4513 has a black trigger and hammer but a silver decocker....

I have said this before: The 4513TSW pre- rail is my go to carry pistol.
I can't miss with it. best little CCW S&W made besides the 3913.

LL, my 4513TSW is the later one, from 2001, 7+1 with black trigger, black hammer, black slide lock, and black ambi decocker. No rail.

I have a 6906 too.

The last range trip, I shot 5 Virgins...Well 4. The 6906 had been shot before I got it.

You have the 4013 I am looking for!! Silver slide lock and decocker, black trigger and hammer, no rail.

I just passed on one that had all black controls... I don't know why, I suppose I could replace them. With three that look the same, I want them all like that now.

I love that 4013 as well!

I'm forced to carry a Glock 22 at work and carry a Glock 19 of duty by choice for simplicity sake. I like my Glocks alright, but I sorely miss carrying a pistol with some character.

I went out to my shooting range today and took my 4513 and M&P9c. It was the first time for the 4513.

Wow.

230 grain Federal Golden Eagle round nose and some 230 gr Speer Gold Dot,

Did I say wow??

The 4513 is a machine. A smooth running, smooth shooting machine. After putting 6 rounds consistently in a 3" circle at 25 feet rapid fire, I pulled the M&P9c out to see if it was as easy to shoot. To tell you the truth, I couldn't come up with much difference at all. Recoil is so similar to me it's hard to say. The weight of the 4513 isn't much more than the 9c, so I don't know what magic they did, but it is just a cream puff to shoot.

The Federal Eagles are some dirty rounds. Soot on the muzzle, soot on slide release, soot through the slide cover.

It's sad to see wear starting on the gun! It now has marks on the slide and barrel, it's not new any more....

But boy is it a dream to shoot!

I now know what you guys mean when you say you love to shoot the 4513.

Unbelievable. This gun will ALWAYS go with me to the range.

Man I don't know what it is, but the 4513 is just a smooth shooter. Cream puff is the only thing I can think of. It just amazes me that the targets move as much as they do when I'm getting so little recoil.
