4516 holster question

is the profile of the 4516 the same as a commander 1911? Would holsters interchange?

My 4516-1 doesn't fit any of my 1911 holsters, the slide width/height is slightly larger. But... all of my holsters are the form fitted kind, so on ones with a looser fit, it just may work.

I get no interchangeability with 1911 holsters, even the ones that aren't form fitted. I find the main problem is that the trigger guard on 1911s is small compared to whatever I'm trying to jam in the holster. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I haven't been able to do it yet.

Spotted a very nice condition with box one that I am tempted with . Never had one. only one mag,,,,, $499. Good price? I would say not carried, and shot very little

I was told one can use a Sig 228/229 holster for a 4516 pistol. I have used a Galco small of back holster for a Sig 229 and a matrix and it fits fine. Was trying to buy a Galco shoulder holster, but lost out on eBay. Anybody else hear this? Any other suggestions?

Most SIG 229 and Glock 19 holsters seem to work, best to try before you buy.

Just get one from Kramer. He's got one to fit either strong side or cross draw for that model. Look at the gun availability list...

I think it is a fair price...a couple of nice ones with box and two mags sold on GB for $530 and $580. I got mine on GB for $425...two mags...no box. I love the 4516...it will serve you well.

A Springfield XD holster fits the 4516 nicely.

I just ordered a Crossbreed and they are able to make a 4516 specific holster, but I am still waiting for it to arrive.

I'm told that the 457 and the 4516 will use the same holster and that the 457 will fit in a Sig 226 holster. There's a thread, maybe two, about that in this forum.
