Does anyone here load 454casull? Im loading for a rifle in particular. Right now I am just loading with cast bullets but they are gaschecked. Im looking around to see what powders people really like with 250gr-350gr+ bullets.
I have a few powders but unfortunately I don't have enough to do alot of testing because those powders that are suitable are mostly earmarked for other calibers but if I need to invest in more of those I can. H110, IMR4227, A9 and LilGun come to mind immediately as probable candidates.
Another question, what is the lightest bullet weight youve loaded for the Casull? Any 200gr cast bullets?

...any of those powders will be fine- additionally 1680, Enforcer, N110.

If you are going to push lite (200) lead fast you are going to need gas checks.

The Casull was developed around 300 grain lead, personally I would limit weight to 325 grains. A 300 WFN will provide more than enough penetration for anything you are going to shoot.

H110 and Lil'gun will give best velocity over the range of bullets typically shot from 454;250-325 grains.

A9 can be a little spiky with the heavies, the pressure curve turns up quick at near full pressure, small addition make big increase in pressure.

I currently do not own a 454 but have owned several.
I have only fired ammo that I loaded for my handguns and had great luck with H110
Still have 308gr cast bullets around
