Also late to the party. My model 59 is my "basement" weapon that is there in case of invasion while in shop. Was told when I bought it that it was LE sheriff buyouts from down south. Has had a hard life but is critically dependable to THAT is the important thing.
Re: S&W Model 4053 marked "V.C.B.D." Justicetyme... I stumbled onto a post in this forum from February 3, 2009. Member VAdoublegunner says he had owned a S&W 4053 marked "V.C.B.D." for about ten years. This forum member recalls that "V.C.B.D." stands for Ventura County Beach Division (Park Rangers), north of Los Angeles, CA. I'm still trying to confirm this detail. So, if anyone knows someone who worked as a Park Ranger for Ventura County during the late 1990s, please chime in. Thanks!
Very nice. I've had one about 10 years. It's marked V.C.B.D., which I seem to remember reading somewhere indicated Ventura County Beach Division. Just this past week I spotted another 4053 locally that a friend of mine picked up. They are one of the better "undiscovered" carry guns.
