I'm looking at purchasing one, anything I should look for going in? Is there a 40 barrel for it that I can convert to 10mm?

Yes, I'm aware of that. I was curious if there was a conversion barrel that could be reamed to 10mm, much like the 45 auto framed 4013/1013 conversion. I'm also interested in input on the pistol as it is.

No conversion barrel available. A 4006 would be a better candidate for conversion.

Compared to other 3rd gen models the 4563TSW is relatively scarce. It ws made for fewer years, in fewer numbers than other models. Pricing should run $600 for shooters, $700+ for very good condition with box, mags.

No issues with the 4563TSW. Keep the recoil spring changed every 3K rounds and keep grease - not oil - on the aluminum frame rails and your grandchildren will enjoy that fine 45. Regards 18DAI

The owner says he has the original box as well! He also said the 3 dot sights are red from the factory, is that something they did?

Well........one can never say "never" where S&W is concerned. But the 4563 model was done in various forms. Many were "one of one" pre production or salesmans samples.

Having seen MANY 4563TSWs over the last two decades, I have never seen "red dots" in place of the standard white dots, from the factory. On any 3rd gen gun.

But I have seen a half dozen that were painted over by an owner. Regards 18DAI

I didn't know a 4006 magazine could handle the length of a 10mm. Is this a model I am not familiar with? Aren't they the same size magazine as the 9mms?

As others have said, this is a screaming hot deal. I have not see red dots on S&W sights either, but Beretta did this for years before someone whispered that red is near totally invisible in low light.

May I make a suggestion?
If you want to hotrod it, you can change the recoil spring and run 45 Super.
This will be cheaper than a 10mm conversion (which you would need a .40 pistol for) and will give you comparable performance and heavier bullets.
I have done .45 Super ( also called .45 Griz) in 4506/4566 with a 22 pound recoil spring and had excellent results. One can meet or exceed the ballistic power of 10mm, and the brass holds up well for reloading.
Just a thought.
(I do hit the back of each brass case with red nail polish to make sure I dont kill a 1911 with a .45 Super load.)

You are correct.
4006 magazine is NOT long enough for the 10mm cartridge.
