.45acp Mountain Gun

I've been thinking of getting one lately and wondered what you gents think of yours, and how hard it is to find one.
While I like my 325NG, I believe I'd like a gun with a bit more weight and sight length for shooting on a regular basis.

I have Mountain Guns in .357 Mag., .44 Mag., and .45 Colt. I love them ! ! While I don't have one in .45 ACP, I can't imagine you being disappointed if you purchased one.

i had a 45acp mountain gun they are nice smith and wesson only made them for one year in 2000 they are kind of hard to find but they do come up somtime on gunbroker u may want to put a wtb ad on here

I have a 44 Mtn Gun and love it. I would give my eyeteeth for a 45ACP Mountian Gun. Great concealed carry combination. If you find two let me know.

Thanks for the info. I've owned a .44 mag Mountain Gun for about eight years and it has been my most accurate .44 to date. If I find a stash of them in .45acp I'll let you know.

i do not have a 45 mountain gun, but i have a 625 with a 3 inch barrel, a thunder ranch 45 acp , a s&w 1917, a colt 1917, and a s&w model of 1950, all guns in 45 acp, they are some of my favorites. i shoot 45 acp and 45 auto rim shells.

Here is a heartbreaker of a story.

While at the last show last month ,I ran into a gent who had a new in
box 625-6 45 a.c.p. Mountain gun.
He wanted $600. cash.
I did not have any $ ,and put him together with a friend of mine
who bought the gun.

I do have one I shoot. It is the bees knees.
If you can find one ,get it. You won't be disappointed.

I carried mine for alittle over 4 years as a duty weapon and was never dissapointed in it's performance. Excellant weapon.

As others have said, it's hard to find one as they weren't made for very long and they are quite desirable. What I really want they never made so I'm going a different route.

I have a M25-2 that has a 6-1/2" M26 barrel (tapered) screwed onto it. When I get over the by-pass surgery I had a couple weeks ago (smile) I'm taking this to my gun smith friend to have the barrel cut back to 4", re-position the sight and ramp the way Smith used to by pinning, bevel the front of the cylinder and round butt the grip. I'll have one of the few "blue steel" 45 ACP mountain guns around.

Highly desirable and hard to find. Owners like me won't part with them. FYI this model comes with MIM parts, frame-mounted firing pin and NO LOCK. Good luck in your search.

Looks like a fine pistole, just a bit bigger (and more expensive) than I'm looking for. I bet it would be a real shooter.

I have a Mtn. Gun I got around 2001 in .45 Colt and it is very accurate and very easy to carry. Smith said there was only 750 made on that run. It is a 625-7. Hope you find what you're looking for as others have said, a nice one could be hard to find. Good luck!!

Well you can do the next best thing and get a model 22 (45ACP). It's in effect a Mtn. Gun with fixed sights. I love mine and it hits to point of aim.

I am carrying my Model 22-4 on duty, and shooting at least a few rounds out of it just about every other day....
I do indeed love it..again, not a MG, but available, accurate and a hoot to shoot...

I was bitten by the Moutain Gun bug a few years ago.
I ended up with the four horsemen,
625-5 MG 45 ACP
625-7 MG 45 Colt
657-4 MG 41 Mag
629-4 MG 44 mag

I liked the 45 ACP Mtn gun so much that I also aquired the Model 1989 and 1988 .45 ACP revolvers. I am shooting the snot out of them and then they will be passed on to my youngest son.

Picked up a 625-6 mountain gun today from the local dealer. It seems to be in good shape except for the lead in the bore. If i can remember how to post some pics I will.
