Here is data for my 460 S&W with a 2 ¾” barrel that I chronied using my own hand loads.
265gr RFN my own cast, 46.5gr lilgun powder, COL: 2.185, velocity1622fps
335gr CPB, 41gr lilgun powder, COL: 2.185, velocity 1528fps
370gr CPB, 35gr lilgun powder, COL: 2.185, velocity 1483fps (cases were very sticky)
460gr FN cast from a .458 mold and sized to .452, 30gr lilgun powder, COL: 2.220, velocity 1397fps (I blew holes through my primers, and the cases were stuck bad)
The short barrel did better than I thought...Yes I know, "what is the point in having that short of a barrel in that caliber?"
I guess you are entitled to your own opinion...even if it is the wrong one.
