Put Nill grips on the 7.5" Black Hunter today.

Sited the 14" Black Hunter for 300 grain XTP MAG.

Put 150 rounds through them today, cleaned them up and took a few pictures.

The wood grips work fine for me. My offhand groups are tighter, but They do transfer more energy into my arms and they fatigue sooner- but I won't be shooting 50 rounds when hunting either.

I use the longer Nill grips on my uncomped 14" 460 and like them on the bench and don't notice the fatigue at all.

Thankx but, I'll stick with my Hogue's. Are Nill's made here in America?
Steve

I put Hogue monogrips on my 500 but they haven't made it to the range yet.

Will do. Hopefully within a coupla weeks.

Super old thread, I know, but how have the Hogue hardwood grips held up for you? I'm a big fan of them on other revolvers but Hogue cautions about using them on the X-frames because they can split from the recoil. I'd like to put a set on my 460 but don't want to ruin any.

Can't speak for the Hogues but the Nills have not had any issues when used on my 460s. I have in the neighborhood of 2000 rounds, used on several different barrel length x-frames.

I have tried other grips and they also have not suffered any issues but those have probably only seen only around 500 rounds.

I posted a thread with 460 wood grips here several years back.

Wow, this is an old one. I obviously forgot to do a follow up. Those poor old Hogues split on the back side on the third round. I was surprised though at how well they absorbed the recoil from that beast. I knew there was a possibility of that happening going in but had to try it.

Am curious as to the backstrap's width on those broken grips.
Pic from web of Nills.
Are yours that thin in the same area?

thx

RT, My Hogues splintered/cracked on either side of the exposed backstrap. They are made just like the rubber versions. Certainly not as stout as the Nill grips.

Yes, I saw that thread a few nights ago. Nice collection!

Bummer. I'd like to "purty-up" my XVR but at the same time am too cheap to spring for a set of Nills at close to $200.

Those x-frame factory grips are good for about 4-5 trips to the range before they split behind the hammer.

Not been my experience- while I have wore 5 or 6 pairs out it was after 5000 to 6000 rounds.

My sessions are typically from 75 to 150 rounds depending on what I am trying to get done. My reloading log now shows over 76000 rounds built.

The 500 are a little harder on the grips but still I cannot recall replacing any grips with less than 4K to 5K.
