I'll admit that this may be a dumb question. Is there enough meat in the slide of a 469 to get rid of the integral front sight and cut dovetail for a replacement front sight?

I like my 469 but would like to put in some fiber optic sights on it. I use a very competent gunsmith, but wanted to check with you knowledgeable folks first on the feasibility of this change. I would like either a dovetailed front sight, or if it makes more sense, a glock-style front sight attachment method.

Thanks for your help.

I saw on the internet where one guy did it to his Model 469. Did it with hand files too! I would expect it would touch and maybe even cut into the skirt of the pressed-in barrel bushing, but I doubt that would present any problems. I understand that happens with Browning Hi-Power dovetailed front sights.
Here is a link to the story about the 469 front sight mod.
