469?

I've always liked the 469 and its stainless cousin the 669. Years ago I bought my father, an avowed Colt revolver man, a LNIB 669.

He had told me he wanted a low maintenance, high capacity 9mm semi auto. It had to be concealable as he is a retired police officer and carried all the time.

We went to the local dealer and he picked the 669. Kept it for decades as his only semi auto handgun. He recently gave it to me. Fine pistol. Finer man.

Having always liked the Devel custom chopped and channeled S&W 9mm guns and never having been able to afford one, I have wanted to pick up a 469. It reminds me of both the Asp and Devel guns.

I know a Captain who was over a plainclothes team who carried the 469 as his primary. He used it a few times and was well pleased with that gun.

I have seen different "variants" of the 469. IIRC there were some nickel ones made. Also I've seen some blue ones with ambi decockers. Some with Uncle Mikes grips, some with other rubber grips and two types of factory OEM vinyl grips. One type is shiny black, the other a flat finished dark gray black.

Not owning a 469, yet ;) , I can tell you of my experience with the stainless version, the 669. It is accurate and as reliable as my 3rd gen guns. It uses the 69XX series mags too.

I advise you to buy it, shoot it, love it. If a 469 crosses my path when I have gun money, I sure will. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

As to value, I'd estimate $550 to $575 for LNIB with box docs and two mags. Maybe $475 to $500 for used in very good condition.

I just picked up a 469 two weeks ago from local gun show from a dealer that I have traded revolvers with in the past. The 469 is in real nice shape in the original box with tools and paperwork and I got it for $400 otd. It is a flat type blued finish with original grips. I am not too familiar with Smith's in semi auto but I took a liking to the 469 as soon as I saw it. Had it to the range last night and it worked flawlessly. Hope this helps.

I have owned this 469 for about 20 years or more. It has been 100% reliable, whether firing re-loads with home cast lead bullets, or factory made hollow point ammo. Mine is completely original. No box or papers, and none needed.

I also owned a 669 for short time that I foolishly traded-off. It was also utterly reliable.

If you are looking for a reliable, compact, 12-shot, lightweight 9mm pistol, this one is perfect.

Snagged one LNIB w/three mags for $425 off this site a few months back. Had one back in the mid 80's but foolishly sold it.

Great off duty or CCW guns. compact, yet very easy to shoot well.
