I am closing in on somewhere near 4,500 rounds through my little 15-22. My rifle is dedicated just to Steel Challenge match shooting.

Mods / upgrades to my rifle include: HT 24C trigger (great), VQ extractor (essential) and a C-More 8MOA red-dot that replaced my $50 Tru-Glo simply because the CM does not wash out in bright sunlight.

I regularly clean the rifle thoroughly though not after every outing, and recently took out my fire control group so I could get those components really clean.

This little rifle is completely dependable and shoots better that I can operate in a match enviornment. It will eat any ammo I put through it, though my match go-to is either CCI Mini Mags or AR Tactical.

More and more 15-22's are showing up at the club matches I shoot. Guys who thought the 15-22 was an "entry level" gun are putting down their high dollar builds for the little S&W.

All in all I this has to be the absolute best smile per dollar I have ever spent on a firearm; and, as .22 ammo prices have started to come down again the best value to shoot of all the many guns I own.

If you own one you know, if you don't you should get one ;)

Bravo!

My Honey and I couldn't agree more! Today is our 25th and we took her M&P 15-22 to the range for the second time. 200 mini-mags and 200 Federal smile inducing rounds. I even like the trigger! Last week and today her rifle is the one that brought the RSO over for a "look see" and yes we let both of them shoot it inducing smiles and comments like, "I don't remember .22s being this much fun".

It is a winner.

Over 4,500 original trigger

Congrats to the OP!

I'm in total agreement except I kept the original trigger on my 15-22 MOE. Over 4,600 rounds as of last range visit. I had to send mine back to S&W for warranty replacement on the bolt carrier as the guide rails were rough. The replacement also required some fine sanding & polishing, plus I installed the Volquartsen extractor. Smooth sailing ever since.

I mounted a Nikon Prostaff II Rimfire optic to compensate for my elderly vision. Can hit bulls-eyes out to 150m from a bench rest, the farthest I've attempted. My favorite target shooting is hitting 1-2-3-4" steel spinners at around 50m.

When I start shooting the 15-22 at the public range, I initially hear some sneers from the "true" AR-15 shooters. Later, after they've exhausted their expensive (loud!) ammo & my 15-22 is still blazing away (Pew! Pew!) w/ a stack of 25-round mags; the questions start from the crowd with visitors asking "what kind of rifle is that?".
