Hey, I've got a box of them I could let go for that. 9mm's, too. And a box of 44 mags I discovered. If you're buying, we could deal.

They 'stopped'' making..

They stopped making 'Black Talon' due to public disfavor. They continued to make them but under the name SXT without hyping the sharp edged expansion feature. I don't know if they still make it, but somebody with a lot of money to burn may buy them from the guy. That would not be me.

PS People say that SXT stands for 'Same Exact Thing'.

They are collectible, people don't buy it to shoot. That price seems high but it's a free country.

Single rounds of the original BT ammo should go for $2-3 max ea. Full boxes in excellent condition may go for $50-75 depending on caliber. Some people may be willing to pay a premium price for BT ammo.

Got an ammo box full of them in all calibers from back in the day. The 180 grain 357 magnum load is good on deer; but, aside from that, they are expensive because of the name and the legend behind them.

SXT stands for Supreme eXpansion Technology

There was a day a while back, like 15 years ago, when I bought a new rifle. It was a weatherby in .30-378, and the loaded ammo cost $80 for a box of 20. Do the math, thats $4 a shot. But then you get the brass for your fun of reloading. And I bought 2 boxes and another 2 boxes of primed brass. I even had some friends (of questionable quality) who laughed at me. I really didn't care, it was my gun, my money, and they didn't own anything remotely similar. One of the group even tried to borrow a rifle to take hunting. He had sufficient means, he was just too cheap. And I didn't/don't have a gun I would loan out. Especially to a guy who doesn't own anything similar.

So I don't think $4 or $5 a round is that outrageous. I'd rather pay less, but there are some calibers that offer more than others. This thread is about profiteering. But the price isn't that outrageous except the seller doesn't offer value for the money.

I stuck a couple sealed cases away figuring they would be collectible one day....

Guys still talk about them as if they were magic. They weren't all that and a bag of chips. Today's best self defense loads are far improved.

I suppose the problem with the Black Talon would be you cant get the bullet to reload with? Unlike your rifle..

Rifle ammo is one thing, but handgun ammo is totally different.

I doubt that the people buying original BT ammo are doing so to load it in their SD handguns. It's collectable ammo and it's a novelity to have it.

BT is a curious beast. I have watched wax and wane over the past 6 years, almost makes me want to get rid of the full sets ( rifle and handgun, plus one box marked prototype Black Talon. I have no idea what the prototype looks like since it is in a factory sealed box. Any one ever see it? Be Safe,

Never seen nor heard of the prototype. Any chance of posting clear pics of the box?

CTG_ I will get into that cabinet in the next day or 2 and get some clear photos. The ammo rep probably had a stamp and there is some nasty, ugly, off sized ball in it!!! Be Safe,
