5" 29-2

29-2's came with presentation case. Unaware if Smith built a 5" 29-2? Someone more knowledgable than me can answer that/

I have only seen one that was in the original shipping carton with presentation case. It had a 6 1/2" clamshell case. To my knowledge, a 5" case was never made.

Actually, the case inserts were made for 6.5" barrels during the -2 time frame. That is because guns came with 6.5" barrels up until '79 when they were standardized at 6". The inserts for the 6.5" guns were also used for the few 5" guns.

They made cases and inserts for 4" barreled guns and they also made inserts for the much longer 8 3/8" guns, but those came in a much longer presentation case.

The only 5" presentation cases that was std production, to the best of my knowledge, were the ones for late manu'd 27-2's with 5" barrels. I own one of those cases in excellent condition. They can be fairly hard to come by. Mine is not for sale.:)

Doc44 may see this and fill you in even better.

Don't know what vintage they were , or what model it originally contained , but I have seen 5in specific presentation cases. LGS had one when I bought my 6in 25. Didn't fit so I didn't buy it. :( Wish I did as I later acquired a 5in 27-2.

All 5-inch Model 29-2s were shipped with a presentation case made for a revolver with a 6 1/2-inch barrel.
