5.56 Ammo Advice

Recently bought a M&P15X. Want to buy some bulk ammo for it. Can someone direct me to information on the differences between all the military designation ammo that is available from the wholesalers.

What you normally see for sale is M193 (aka XM193), which is the older 55gr 5.56 load, and M855 (aka XM855) which is the newer 62gr load.
