Nothing seems to last long at all. Out of all the places that you can get ammo (including online) Ive had the best luck at walmart.

They can have/keep those tracers. They are VERY hard on the barrel and give away your position. Might be good for reloads at best. That a lot of bullet pulling. Any idea what the price was ?

They don't even ignite until they are 150-200 yds from the end of the barrel. We've shot them for years and I haven't seen any more wear on my barrels than other .223.

I actually ordered that from Sportsmans Guide weeks ago...the price was good (at that time, I think it was $400/1000). But then I realized that my range forbids incendiary ammo, and cancelled. I still regret cancelling, as it would have been good for stockpiling for SHTF.

I always new when my barrel was going bad. They'd start corkscrewing and that was shooting every 5-7th round. If they are taking that long to "light" off,I still wouldn't shoot them.

why would anyone fire tracers?...

The party line is impact indicator and direct fire. Low magazine indicator was popular.

But I always thought it was to start a brush fire to close down the firing line and wake up the hose draggers.

All depends on which ones they are. Red tip/bright is immediate and orange tip/subdued is delayed.
