Greetings from weather torn Houston,

Has anyone done a trigger job on the 5.7 or 22 Mag M&P pistols yet? I have 50 rounds through mine so far and it's an OK trigger but nothing to write home about.

Thanks in advance,

Wish somebody that knows how to lighten up these triggers would chime in.

Not what you want to hear, but the trigger on my Walther WMP is first class.

Ditto for my FN 5.7 pistol.

Smith just doesn't do good triggers on their semis, with rare exceptions.

A shot in the dark. Contact APEX to see if they have a kit or parts for this model. My M&P 9mm upgraded with APEX trigger kit is my favorite 9

After about 300-400 rounds, my S&W .22 WRM pistol's trigger has settled down to a descent 4.5 pound pull. I've had zero mechanical issues so far. Not too bad for an M&P hammer fired, mass marketed pistol IMO.

I'm not sure if anyone will be designing and selling trigger kits for these models, since they will obviously not be selling millions of them.

Galloway does sell a "short stroke" trigger for these models:

Moray Short Stroke Trigger for Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Magnum and M&P 5.7 Pistols

Just ordered the "short stroke" I will let you know how it works out

Did you install short stroke Kit

Any feedback on the short stroke kit - I am considering it for 5.7

Just worked on my first 5.7. The firing mechanism is totally different from the other M&P pistols. Internal hammer vs striker fired. Apex does not make a kit for this type of action. I lubed the sear surface with Brownells Action Magic for a little improvement. Time and use should improve the trigger pull.

Long story short.
Installed the short stroke, oem easy out short stroke easy in. Easy reassemble. Except now slide will not retract back past the hammer. Disassemble reassemble multiple times cannot find any reason for slide hanging up. Finally reinstall oem, AAHHHH same slide problem. Go slow check EVERYTHING multiple times still no solution.
Back to the mother ship it goes with oem parts installed. Returned in 10 days, all is well, no explanation as to cause of problem. Attempt at short stroke reinstall has not happened.

Install the short stroke trigger, polish ALL the internal parts with jeweler's rouge to a mirror finish, lightly lube before reinstalling, and remove the firing pin safety! I know most feel this is a noob thing to do but my pistol is for me to shoot and only at our outdoor range. No one besides me will use this pistol, so be nice, fellas. As a retired USMC/CWO Gunner, I have many years of handling firearms and have never dropped one. I do have a thumb safety, a trigger safety, and a well-engineered index finger on my shooting hand.
After the mods, the pull weight is a crisp 2# with minimal pre-travel.
