5 inch 625-3

If you are a Browns fan I don't think it's safe for you to own a gun until the season is over.

I own and regularly shoot 625-3s which were made in 5, 4 and 3 inch barrels. New in box specimens are worth well over a thousand dollars. Clean well maintained used guns probably $750 and up depending on bidders.

I used one of my 5" 625s regularly in USPSA matches for at least 15 years. It is still very serviceable but the bore has enough wear to cause ammo to chronograph significantly lower than a new barrel. Be aware that some of these guns have been used hard.

The 625s where I shop are offered at around $800 +/- depending on condition, box/etc.; even the later ones with IL. Good luck.

Bob summed it up very well. You will abolsutely love the 625's. I own quite a few of them and are some of the best shooters I own. Plus a blast using moonclips too.

Any of the stainless Smiths in .45 acp or 45 Colt are getting pricey. I have a 625-2 .45 Cal Model of 1988 that I bought used but with box, correct grips and goodies. I only paid $680, but I got lucky. I usually see this set up going between $1000 - $1300; I've had several offers that support these numbers. Heck the current JM 625s are going north of $850 - I'd gladly pay a couple hundred more to have one sans IL and MIM.

I paid $500.00 for my well used M-1989 five incher about five years ago. Man does that thing shoot! It puts my four inch JM to shame at least in my hands. If you find a five inch 625 at a reasonable price snatch it up.
