I was just in the local Gander Mountain, in York, Pa and they have a 5 screw pre 29 in the original (I think) black case and "cokes". Bad news is bluing maybe 75%. Mechanically fine, no pitting, cokes very nice, and case solid but scuft and lining torn. No tools. $1,199.00. If finish was better I would have bought it myself,in an instant, but decided to pass.

Just thought I would pass it along.

thats still a good deal...you'd be wise to go back and get it....if the case and the cokes are in good shape thats your money!

Just called them and talked to some reject on the phone. It was going to be the most complicated and expensive shipping ever so I passed. If you are in VA,I think it is a good deal.

You passed on a great deal. I have a pre29 that I have been buying the case and tools for. The case if in good shape is worth $400 and up. The tools are the hard part to find. I paid $120 for the SAT and cleaning rod. I can't find the mop and brush but I expect to pay $150 for them. The cokes on it are worth $400 and up. So for the price of these items you would have a free gun! Run back!!!!

I could live with out the case, which is solid but pretty rough, but I'd kinda hate to seperate the grips from the gun. You would end up with a solid shooter. I am sure. The bluing on the right side of the frame looked almost as if it was removed and covered with a cold blue that didn't take, similar spots on the left side.Bluing loss on the cylinder.

I don't know, if not for the finish issues, I would be interested, but as I am not a collector. I would be just as happy with a 29-2 which I already have a very nice one of. It just isn't calling to me. Hope I don't regret it some day.

Sounds like the price is about right.$6-700 for a shooter (if not a beater),$2-300 for a case that needs work,$2-300 for the grips if they're in the same condition as the rest of the package.

I would actually grade the grips much higher than the rest of the package. I knew when I went to look at the gun, that the "cokes" could be worth good money on their own, but still don't have any idea what a case sells for and I would say this one was poor.

Glad I passed with the cold blue comment.Nothing worse than somebody trying to "fix" honest wear with cold blue :(
